Body Arts and Science International (BASI®) is a comprehensive certification program developed by Rael Isacowitz, M.A., an internationally recognized expert in the Pilates method. The program integrates the original work and philosophies of Joseph Pilates with contemporary scientific knowledge, and ensures that students will emerge with a deep understanding of the Pilates method and application repertoire. The program is comprised of formal lectures, personal practice, observation, student teaching, a dissertation, and a complete examination process. Body Intellect is proud to offer this level of training in our studio. edb Pilates is the host studio for BASI Pilates® in Cape Town. Courses are also run in Johannesburg, Pretoria and Durban.

BASI graduates run some of the world’s most prominent studios. Others travel the globe, teaching Pilates to students in cities as far apart as Santiago, Greece and Beijing. Yet others have lucrative private practices. Wherever people are serious about Pilates, you will find the people of BASI. BASI Pilates® teacher training is not for people who are satisfied with being ordinary. Nor is it for those who want things to be easy.
